V Section – Nautilus
This section is metaphorically planned as Captain Nemo’s library: it is arranged in his submarine which travels under the sea
representing the place where all the aspects concerning the complete knowledge about the sea may be gathered and shared.
Of course, the
Mediterranean sea serves as repository for such an
extensive knowledge. Thus, both research on the
Mediterranean sea and its history will be the main
topics of this section with the aim of examining them in
every detail. Furthermore, we suggest to create a
Network Library. This
should be organised according to the 4 Sections
presented above (i.e. The other side of the sky, Games
of exchange, Skills of the hand, The power of symbols).
Each sections will be
further divided into units or areas as suggested below.
Of course, the creation of a Network Library (both
physical and virtual) entails the need for a librarian
who is supposed to be proposed and appointed by all the
network partners in order. Within the travelling
exhibition, a small pavilion will also include a
bookshop where both institutional and network’s
publication can be sold along with the interdisciplinary
and disciplinary research
material.
