I. Section - The other side of the sky
This section will display
significant examples of flora and fauna living in the
sea: living and mummified specimens, plastic, plaster
and papier-mâché models of sea inhabitants belonging
to various plant and animal taxonomy groups (i.e. fish, cephalopods, sea turtles, seals, algae and other creatures living in the marine biosphere, including sea bird species).
Such a variety of
materials need to be accompanied by maps and charts
showing the bottom of the sea, its currents and
coastlines. For this reason, the use of typological
tables becomes essential so that visitors can refer to
them to identify the specific class of each specimen
displayed. Photographic exhibition panels, videos and
recordings of sea storms should be used for the sake of
a very well documented exhibition. Giving visitors the
chance to listen to the sounds uttered by some species
(such as dolphins, killer whales and so on) could help
debunk the myth that fish are
silent.
